We're Glad You're Interested

Selecting the best school for your child is an important decision. We are privileged that you are considering Des Moines Christian (DMC).  Look around our website to find out what makes DMC different.

DMC partners with parents who have an active faith in Jesus Christ and we admit and educate students who strive for academic success.  We believe student life is about being something bigger than ourselves.  As a Christ centered community we treasure a culture in which students find a place to belong, the environment to flourish, and the relationships and memories they will carry for a lifetime.  DMC admits students of any race, color, and national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities.

Admission Criteria

Please review our spiritual, academic, and behavioral criteria listed below.  If you would like to explore a partnership with Des Moines Christian School, please complete our inquiry form to make a connection with the Admissions Office. Once we process your inquiry, the Admissions Office will grant you access to our secure admissions portal.

     Spiritual Commitment
    • At least one parent or guardian must be a professing believer in Jesus Christ and provide a written Christian testimony. It is preferred that both parents provide written faith testimonies.
    • At least one parent must be in full agreement with and willingly sign the DMC Statement of Faith.
    • Student(s) and at least one parent are members of and/or regular attenders at a church in which the Bible is sincerely believed to be the inspired word of God which is the basis for all life and learning.
     Academic and Behavior Standards
    • Students and parents must exhibit behavior, both in and out of school, that is consistent with DMC’s Christian values.
    • Student applicants may be required to take an entrance assessment to determine academic suitability and supplement other data collected.
    • Students transferring from another school are required to provide academic records.  Report cards and transcripts demonstrate the student is an independent learner and the student has the ability to be successful in our learning environment.  Records also support passing grades, a positive behavior, and minimal absences.
    • Students with prior drug, alcohol, or other similar issues must have successfully completed (including being 100% drug and alcohol free) a full year in a regular school program prior to admission. DMC does not accept students expelled from other schools.
     Statement of Faith
    What we believe.
    1. Belief in the authority and reliability of the Bible as the inspired and infallible Word of God. The Bible is the complete and final revelation of God concerning all matters of faith, truth and practice. All truth is God's truth (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21).

    2. Belief in the omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent God who is sovereign over all (Revelation 4:2; Psalm 45:6; 139:8; Isaiah 66:1). His sovereignty is seen in acts of creation (Genesis 1:1,31), salvation (John 6:44), and continual care (Matthew 10:29-31; Hebrews 7:25).

    3. Belief in the Trinity, of the one true God (Matthew 28:19), the deity of Jesus Christ (I Timothy 3:16; John 1:1; 10:30), His virgin birth (Luke 1:30-35), sinless life (Romans 8:3; Hebrews 4:15), miracles (Mark 1:27; John 2:11), atonement for our sins by His blood sacrifice (Matthew 26:28), His bodily resurrection (John 20:1-9), ascension, His personal return in power and glory (Mark 16:19, 13:26).

    4. Belief in the Holy Spirit as teacher of God's Truth (John 14:17) and as giver of new life in Christ and who unites all believers in Christ (Titus 3:5).

    5. Belief that man is the crown of God's creation. God endowed man with His image and gave him the responsibility to rule the earth (Genesis 1:26-27). Belief that sin has severely broken the relationships between God and man (Romans 3:23), man and himself, man and other men (James 4:1), and man and nature (Romans 8:20-22).

    6. Belief that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, came to earth to offer cleansing for man's sin, and to heal these broken relationships through His cross(Romans 5:1-2).

    7. Belief that man cleansed through Christ must seek to live out his life in total commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord of life, which involves reestablishing all the original relationships God intended for him (Ephesians 4:1).

    8. Belief in a need for clearly defined goals and objectives centered in the Word of God for the development and growth of the whole person (spiritual, mental, emotional, social and physical) and for the establishing of proper priority in an individual's life (Proverbs 1:7; I Corinthians 10:31).

    9. Belief that God established the family as the basic unit of society. Parents are ultimately responsible for the instruction and discipline of their children. The Christian School is simply an extension of the educational process of the family and the church providing a supportive basis of encouragement to the family and the church (Ephesians 5:22-33;Proverbs 22:6).

    10. Belief that a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and God's Word is necessary for those who are involved in the educational process (faculty, staff, administration and board) (II Timothy 3:16).

    11. We believe a true Christian is one who has received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord by faith. We believe good works to be the inevitable result of true faith (Romans 10:9; Ephesians 2:8; James 2:17-18;I John 2:3-4).

    Affording a DMC Education

We want every qualified, mission-appropriate student to be given the opportunity to attend DMC, but we know that for many families the investment may be a challenge. Our goal is to make Christian education accessible to many. Please review the opportunities listed below. All families are eligible for Iowa 529 Savings Account, the Iowa Tuition and Textbook Credit, and DMC Dollars.

Families may be eligible for additional tuition assistance for students in grades K-12 based on demonstrated financial need. The average tuition assistance grant is not intended to cover the total tuition costs. The family is responsible for payment of the tuition and fees above the awarded amount. Our parents must reapply each year for tuition assistance and no student is given tuition assistance for academic or athletic ability.

     Iowa 529 Accounts
Iowa 529 accounts can be used to fund K-12 tuition paid to an accredited State of Iowa School. A 529 Plan is an after-tax investment account that grows tax free if distributions are used for qualified educational expenses. Des Moines Christian School is an accredited State of Iowa School and our tuition is a qualified 529 account expense. The State of Iowa guidelines state that the maximum 529 distribution per K-12 student is $10,000 per calendar year and payment can only be applied towards tuition.

If you participate in the Iowa 529 educational savings plan, please have qualified distributions made and sent directly to you and DMC will proceed with the school tuition payment plan you originally elected.
    Iowa Tuition & Textbook Credit
Families can claim a credit of up to $250 for tuition and textbook payments on their State of Iowa income tax return. Use your tuition statement as proof of payment (access Net Classroom or call Student Billing if you need a copy). Please ask your accountant for more information on your specific tax situation and eligibility.
    DMC Dollars
    • Available to all families, gift certificates to local and national retailers and restaurants can be purchased from the school and a portion of the purchase is credited towards tuition.
    • Find more information about getting signed up for the program.
    Transportation Credit
    • Families who live more than 2 miles from school with K-8 grade students, or more than 3 miles with 9-12 grade students, are potentially eligible to receive reimbursement for transportation expenses from their public school district.
    • Forms should be completed and mailed to your public school district twice a year. Forms must be postmarked no later than December 1st and May 1st.
